Possible Future Car Technology
Recently, there have been several showings of the documentary "Who Killed the Electric Car" in Oceanside. And, if you missed seeing this interesting documentary, it is still possible to rent from you local video/DVD rental store. “Who Killed the Electric Car?” deals with the history of the electric car, its development and commercialization, mostly focusing on the General Motors EV1 and how the enthusiastic owners lost their vehicles through to big business deals and government backpedaling from their zero emission mandate. The car cost $299-plus a month to lease, went between 60 and 80 miles on a full charge, and took between 45 minutes and 15 hours to re-charge. The film examines who may caused the end of the electric car. The electric car would have cut loose from the dependency on the oil and the monopoly imposed by oil companies as well as solving part of our climate change crisis. It also examines hydrogen fuel technology, which would be costly and which may be many years away from being practical in cars. For more information on electric cars visit the following:
